Those years dating Leo must have rubbed off on her - no Evian for this icon. Brazilian supermodel Gisele has been spotted with her reusable Sigg water bottle in hand time and time again. The lightweight aluminum bottles are easy to carry, whether you’re running around town or jetting around the globe, and they come in an array of colors and patterns. Plus, using them helps cut down on the billions upon billions of water bottles thrown away each year. And we know this probably doesn’t concern Gisele, but it’s significantly cheaper to use a reusable water bottle and water filtration system than to buy disposable water bottles. But using reusable water bottles isn’t the only effort Bundchen is making to do her part for the environment. Ads for a sandal she designed, the Ipanema G2B sandal, are aimed at raising awareness about the necessity of conserving fresh water. The ads, which feature Bundchen wearing a ‘water dress,’ support Y Ikatu Xingu, a campaign to protect a watershed in the Amazon basin from pollution and overuse. And the sandals themselves are made sustainably, with the recycling of 99% of the surplus material created AND 99% of water used during production.
Fill a pitcher with water. Place said pitcher in your fridge. Result - you stop letting the tap run when you want cold water to drink, and save up to 24 cups of water per drink.
Add some red food coloring to your toilet tank. Come back in 30 minutes. See red on the floor? If so you have a leak and are wasting water all day long. Call a pro in to fix it or this tip could go well over a minute.
If it’s yellow, let it mellow (yuck to think about I know). However, you can save up to 3.5 gallons of water per non-flush. Even better, this tip actually takes negative minutes because you’re doing zip. Ah.
Rinse your dishes right away after eating. If each family member does their own dishes that’s less than a minute each. Later, you won’t have to rinse your dishes for a long time before washing in the dish washer and if you hand wash, it’ll save you time and water too. The main issue with those dishes that take forever to get clean is long-term stuck on food.
Shave one minute off of your 10 minute shower and save well, one minute, and up to 7 gallons of water.
