The Flu and You

Flu season often lasts through March and April, so if you get vaccinated now you will have protection for the rest of the season. Flu is unpredictable! Also, the H1N1 influenza, like the seasonal flu, can make you very sick and could put you in the hospital. There are everyday actions that you can take to stay healthy. You should do these things all year long, not just during flu season:
  • Cover your nose and mouth with your arm or a tissue when you cough or sneeze.
  • Wash your hands often with plenty of soap and hot water.
  • Avoid sick people if possible, and stay home when you are sick.
  • Be sure to get enough sleep, exercise, eat a balanced diet and drink plenty of water.
You can get more information about H1N1 influenza at www.facebook.com/sdcountyhhsa or by calling 2-1-1. You can also get the latest information on vaccination clinics and other H1N1-related topics by following the San Diego County Health and Human Services Agency on Twitter: www.twitter.com/sdcountyhhsa.
